Since the cultural revolution of the 1960s, traditional religious organizations have seen their followers fall away in ever greater numbers, yet the needs they once provided for remain. More and more people express an unfocused yearning for meaning, even as they voice their dissatisfaction with organized religion.
Though I am now a believer–in a non-dogmatic way–I have lived in the shadows between belief and unbelief, and have a great sympathy for those who live there now. This sympathy moves me to explore the question through the medium of fiction.
